‘Halo shows a single strip of aluminium foil loosely fixed into the shape of a circle, alluding to a delicate, single point of contact. The shape has connotations relating to pregnancy and birth, as well as the cyclical and intergenerational nature of care.’ - Roxanna Watson
Rosie Morris (b.1986) is a multi-disciplinary artist, with a background in making site-responsive installations that explore how we experience architectural atmospheres in order to access bodily memory and feeling.
Recent work explores the body as a site, felt gestural knowledge, and emotions relating to ‘daughtering’, memory and grief. These works take the form of miniature and large scale soft sculptures, photographs, and films resembling dens, wombs, tombs and objects emblematic of personal nostalgia, gesture, and the body cared for.
Rosie Morris graduated from Loughborough University in 2008 and received an MFA from Newcastle University in 2012. She is based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and works with gallery and heritage locations in the UK and internationally.
